Cle Elum Heating, Smoke Filtration & Generator FAQ
Do heat pumps work in cold weather like Cle Elum winters?
Cle Elum is on the east side of the Cascades, where winters are colder and snowier than around Puget Sound. A cold-climate heat pump with the right backup heat can work well. In some homes a furnace or a dual-fuel setup makes more sense. We look at your home and explain the trade-offs.
How do I keep wildfire smoke out of my house?
Keep windows and doors closed on smoky days and start with good particle filtration. Washington guidance recommends MERV 13 or better where your system can handle it, or a properly sized portable HEPA cleaner. We check filter fit and airflow before upgrading. See our indoor air quality page.
What is the power company in Cle Elum?
Cle Elum is within Puget Sound Energy's electric service territory, which covers parts of Kittitas County. Flow Tech is a participating installer for PSE heat pump rebates.
Cle Elum is over the pass. Do you really come out?
Yes, Cle Elum is in our service area. Because the trip crosses Snoqualmie Pass, call ahead so we can plan the visit around weather and road conditions.
Do I need a transfer switch for a generator?
A permanently connected standby generator needs a transfer switch so it can't send power back onto utility lines. We're an authorized Generac dealer, we're Generac service certified, and we do residential electrical work, so the generator, transfer switch and panel work for winter outages are handled by one team.
